Junior Grand Prix at Rogue Racing - 2007

Geri in front of James Baldwin

4th August:
Just 6 weeks after Geri first sat in a kart (and of course 6 weeks since Geri's 8th birthday), Rogue Racing started a series of race events for the juniors. This really came a month too soon in his development as a driver, but figuring the experience would do no harm, Geri was entered with few expectations.

The format was to be 5 heats per drivers, 5 drivers in each heat with the top ten drivers racing over 2 semi-finals, then the top five battling for the final. With just 9 entrants for this inaugural meeting, all drivers were guaranteed a semi-final place.

Five heats meant starting one heat in each of the five grid positions. While Geri recorded a win in the heat he started from pole, he finished the heats with 1 win, 1 each of 2nd & 3rd places and 2 4th places leaving him above par on 31 points. This had him in 4th place overall and meant a front row start in the second of the semi finals. A lack of experience meant Geri finished 4th in his semi final having been "muscled out" at the start and did not qualify for the final.

James Baldwin won the event from Jack Macaulay and Guy Grigsby showing Geri what kind of progress he needs to make.
